Human Library Surat

A Butterfly from a Cocoon but with a Difference

The design of nature is unique in a way that it constantly challenges its own convention every time. This attribute of nature is the one that drives the living kingdom to be progressive, fondly termed as evolution by great minds. The intent of Human Library is no different from that of this inherent intent of nature. Also, nature does not easily endorse longevity unless a certain level of struggle is shown.

A Butterfly is often seen as a thing of beauty, nonetheless, the struggle to break open the cocoon and the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly are no less meaningful. Ankit Agarwal, a human book, is a living soul and a thoughtful individual who never hesitates to question stereotypes and who breaks stereotypes with ease.Unfortunately, the Mother Nature has other counter plans. He is diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, a…

What is Altruism ?

Image result for Altruism

Altruism is not for those who are inherently perfect nor is it for those trying to be perfect. Altruism is for those who show disinterested and selfless concern for the well-being of other or for those who believe in doing the selfless deed without ranting about it to the entire world. It is all about being magnanimous, showing benevolence and performing self-sacrifice.

But tell me, have you ever found a deed that is selfless or magnanimous. It doesn’t matter whether you are a saint or an ordinary man. Some way or other your altruistic instincts are always fed by the hunger for glory or fame. Whether consciously or unconsciously, it is this thirst for glory and fame that is steering you towards generosity and bounteousness.

In fact, the entire premise of altruism is fueled by the insecurities and paranoia instilled by religion over the centuries. Take away the premise of heavenly adobe or nirvana and poof goes the concept into the thin air. Even Atheist, heathens and agnostics are no better than theist or deist. The atheists may not believe in God or religion but they sure do believe in making a name for themselves in history.

Just think about it, If people donate for the construction of churches, temples or mosque they are glorified for generosity and poise. But wouldn’t it would have been same if they just burnt that money on a pyre. There are far more important issues in this world than making a glorified hall for someone whose very existing is questionable.

This society condemns philanthropy by labeling it as a means to rinse one’s sin. But why the heck does it forgets to look at a mirror when it does the same every day. You or me paying a beggar is not altruism at the very best it’s egotism.

People act for many reasons; but for whom, or what, they act or should act is immaterial. No individual can ever act only according to his or her own interests without regard for others nor can they ever truly act for others in complete disregard for his or her own interests.

In fact, a person’s acts are determined by prior events; essentially taking away the concept of choice. But as it turns out in the grand scheme of things, a person obviously possesses some control over his or her next action. So, morally speaking, the ideals of altruism or egotism or egoism are illogical. One should pursue their own interests but without disregard to others’ interest and to an extent which is praiseworthy when compared to self-regarding acts.

The definitions in case you were wondering:
Heathens: Those who don’t adhere to a widely held religion (pagans)
Theist: believes in God but does not believe in the doctrine of the Trinity, nor in a divine revelation
Deist: believes in God but does not believe in his superintendence and government, not in the doctrine of the trinity or divine revelation.
Agnostic: believes only what is knowable.

Spirituality and India

What is spirituality?

Its was an alien concept in India, Only the west knew spirituality. The word spirituality was defined by Christians. India never wanted spirituality.
All india wanted was to be a salve to dharma a concept far boarded and complex then spirituality.
Dharma a 1000’s of years old concept that almost per-dates religion itself or say spirituality.
Yes! dharma is not religion. Its more a way of life or perhaps a pathway that leads to a peaceful of life.
This concept was lost somewhere along the history. Now a days spirituality starts with money and ends with money.
We have some how got it mixed with the ridiculous notion that listening to hypocrite and god-men rant random verses from books of wisdom is spirituality.
Spirituality is not something you can earn its something that can only be experienced. You cannot share it nor can you preach it.
Yes indeed, India or for that matter the entire world lacks spirituality. We have polluted it with religion and terms like self-discovery.
Spirituality is more about self-belief, awareness and empathy.

What makes life worthwhile

Be humble to your present, modest about your past but always, always be hopeful of future. Being alive itself is worthwhile, so why bother with the charade of the perpetual motion of the social or religious norms. Just respect what you have today and aim to maintain the same if for some reason you are unable to add-on to it. People say life is a gift but i have always believed it’s lottery. Be thankful to the tide of time for it has brought you to the shore in-spite of the entire universe conspiring against it.
It doesn’t matter whose skeleton sits on the throne because one victory doesn’t make you a conqueror. As, dharmic philosophy says “glory is only once but karma is forever.” So, to make life worthwhile to live try to conquer your fears and conjure courage to undertake deeds not for glory but to quench cosmic karma.

This World

Don’t you feel that even though we say it’s a beautiful world but there is too much prejudice, too much pride and too much attitude out there? I feel that the entire world is insecure and, these insecurities are driving them to the fringes of insanity.

Don’t know why the world holds this odd belief, that it can determine people’s lives and has some sort of control over them. That it can determine their future, choose their spouses, pick professions and influence decisions that shape the course of their lives.

How can it blatantly overlook free-will or perhaps the force more powerful than free-will, the unconscious?

Why doesn’t It realize this simple truth that underneath these suites, behind closed doors everyone is essentially ruled by the same desires? Desires that are raw and dark and deeply shameful.

Why does it fails to comprehend the truth that people are never really who they say they are, hidden underneath there’s always a secret.

Why does it forgets to account for the fact that every one of us is in pursuit of some larger meaning, and we all are just figuring it out? Why hasn’t the world realized that when the ritual of life starts there’s “no master or king, everyone is the same”.

Won’t you agree, that the world should answer these questions before posting, their opinions and prejudice?

People say the world has no regard for you until you force it upon them. But in my opinion, one should not be beguiled by this deceptive myth. This world never ignores. No matter what it will always try and judge you, or throw opinions upon you, or out in the open for others to fiddle with.

Even though the world may lure you with a promises to reciprocate your love but more often than not; It is upon us that we take that love back. Someone recently said to me “give love, take love”  and somehow this makes perfect sense here.

Inspired from Gypsy

To be continued…………in the meanwhile, ponder upon this…..

Can anyone elaborate as to why?
The more I look at someone, someone I love, the more I realize that I don’t know them, and probably I should stop looking, but an incorrigible force in spite of deterrence holds me back. Just like when staring at the sun, you know you should stop but it’s the most intense feeling in the whole world that you can’t help but look.

Rumbles of an Insomniac

It’s 4 A.M suddenly you wake up, the room is dark yet lit with a tint of green, from that feeble LED of your air conditioner. The Space is shrouded in serene calmness, breached only by occasional gusts of wind rattling against the window pane. Those wall hanging look irksome from an ominous tint of green. The familiar shapes seem to have morphed into something alien. Occasionally the ceiling is flooded with shades of yellow, lurking out from the top of the curtain, hiding you from the outside world. These yellow streaks paint distorted figurines that crisscross from one corner of the room to the other. Followed by a muffled but, distinct rumble moving away from you.
You close your eyes only to open them again as if taking a mental picture of this surreal moment. Your focus is now affixed to a strange, yet calming rhythmic throbbing. Trying to figure its source you hold your breath only to realize it was you; That Rhythm is your heart. You continue to listen to it, only to be disrupted, when you gasp for your breath.
Again you lie perfectly still gazing into the tints of green on the ceiling like a moth enticed by the flame, contemplating your existential existence. Slowly drifting into the nostalgia of past. Thinking of friends lost, goof-ups in school and screw-ups of college. While the resentments for opportunities lost, drown you into a faded, washed out and muffled flashback. A flashback that overwhelms your subconscious, drenching it with the realization of loss and pain. Your thought train is now off the rails. But, the calmness of night lures you back into the terms with reality, reassuring you of a brighter future. A future of which you are as weary as of the past but still as sure as of the present.
This turmoil of emotions has ignited a strange craving for food. It seems your mind is playing tricks and is somehow misinterpreting emotional void as metabolic need. Now you must jostle that owl off your shoulder and set out on a prowl to hunt for food. You fumble your way across the room into the pitch black hallway making your way to the kitchen off of the mental map. A strange itch accompanied by the butterflies in the stomach, from the anticipation that, you might run into that expensive vase in the hallway or maybe hit your head into a wall or something gains upon you. Finally, you reach the kitchen. Start by raiding the fridge and all the know stashes of motherly love. Only to settle for a stale piece of crap.
Now you are back in your cave, nibbling off that crap whilst fiddling with night lamp making funny shadows on the wall. All the mental commotion, anxiety and nostalgia have subsided. You are now struggling to get that tune out of your head, counting hours of sleep left before you have to wake up and face that torturous world again………zzzzzzzz….zzzzzzz.
Though darkness is evil, the darkness of night is not necessarily the one.
In fact, I think that it’s the darkness of night that wakes the subconscious.
Jostles your fear, giving way to courage.
After all, the millions of years of evolution were to help your ancient self, survive the hostility of night.

What is satisfaction:

Do you think, such a thing really exists? Some people say they have seen or touched it but I think its all smoke no fire. I mean, just honestly have you ever seen this elusive beast yourself. No! you have only heard myths about it never facts.

I think it’s one of the most coveted secret guarded closely by oligarch of the puppeteer that people over millennia have called God. Just think about it if this secret were ever to come out will his kingdom survive. After all, he thrives off the prayers generated out of misery, not on the thanks from satisfaction. If someone says he’s satisfied I recommend to get as far as possible from that person. Believe you me that person will eventually ask you to donate all your worldly possession to him so that you can also have stratification. It’s just one of those terms created by society to provide a false sense of security or something to keep you shackled to the pursuit of an equally ridiculous concept called money.

It’s like one of those rare gems, surely to cause pillage on its way. It is like a sorcerer, always seeking ways to torture or chain you up. If you want to get out of its wretched grip, then you gotta be a rebellion. Once you give into its devotion, its detrimental dysfunction, slowing rushing you to destruction, you are liable to get alienated. Because face it society is a two faced bitch. No matter how much it raves for satisfaction. It likes no one who is satisfied. They won’t hesitate to shut you out, with no recourse at all. But to some extent, their anxiety is rightly pointed. It’s a fact satisfaction eventually lead to clogging of progress.

If you are satisfied with what you have, then what’s the need to innovate, deliberate or create. I would say satisfaction is and will always remain biased or a salve to the fabric of time. You may say, satisfaction is having the most exotic lunch box as a child, satisfaction is kissing your love as a teenager, satisfaction is buying a new car as a man or satisfaction is being with family when you grow old. I believe one should always stride towards success not for satisfaction but for gratification or just the thrills of it. The World may brand success as addictive but its a good addiction not like the necromancer that satisfaction is.
